Still no update....

So no news to report at all - the little guy is not interested in moving anywhere and so we are scheduled to go in to the hospital tomorrow night (Friday) at 6:00 for an induction.  I'm a little nervous but just ready at this point to have this little guy out of there!  I swear he bruised a few ribs last night - we kept telling him to just kick a little harder and maybe he could get things moving!

In the meantime, I thought everyone would get a kick out of this (somewhat mortifying) picture.  My friend Joy came over this week to keep us company and in honor of the NFL lockout ending, we used the "belly painting kit" that Joy gave us to make a nice little canvas honoring the Colts.  One of the nice things about being off work this week has definitely been keeping tabs on Adam Schefter and the free agency news on ESPN.  Enjoy.

Still Waiting....

We're officially 40 weeks plus one day and still no sign of the Nugget.  Luckily Amy Leicht is in town to hang out with us this weekend and keep our mind off of the waiting!   We got pedicures in the hopes that some reflexology might spring the baby but no such luck yet.  We go to the doctor on Monday to set an induction date if he hasn't arrived by then.  We'll let you know when there is some news!

The Waiting Game

So we're at 38 weeks, 5 days and still no sign of the Nugget's arrival.  On Monday I had a doctor's appointment and all looked well, but they were a little concerned about decreased fetal movement, so they sent me to OB triage for some monitoring.  After FOUR HOURS, they decided that the little guy was moving just fine, and sent us home for some more waiting.  The upside was that Peter and I did get to see the Nugs when they did an ultrasound, and it was nice to see that he's big, healthy, and doing well with our own eyes.

Today I went back to the hospital for another round of follow-up monitoring, and after 30 minutes they let me go with a clean bill of health.  Bummer - I was hoping to have to take the day off to watch the women's soccer game....

The Nugget's Domain

We have officially finished the nursery!  I couldn't bring myself to do pastels, and since we knew we were having a boy we thought it would be a great place to put all of our sports memorabilia - actually it probably would have been the same if it was a girl too :)  We love it and can't wait for the little guy to get here so that we can introduce him to all of his cool toys, gadgets, books, and stuffed animal buddies!  Here are some pictures of the room:

Thank you Uncle Danny for the awesome toy chest!  It looks so great in the room and is already full of goodies!

Thank you Cousin Luke for the awesome Harley rocking horse!  We've gotten so many compliments on it and it looks great:

This is the rocking chair Uncle Brian gave my mom and dad when they were married.  It's wonderfully comfy and squeaky in the best way :)

We're an equal opportunity household, with our equal affection for ND and Wisconsin :)

Now all we need is a baby!  12 days and counting!

From the Village to Roscoe Village....

About six weeks ago, we moved into our new condo in Roscoe Village, which is on the Northwest side of Chicago.  We are absolutely in love with our new neighborhood so far.  We traded a few frat boys and a 7/8 mile walk north to Wrigley for strollers and a 1.1 mile walk west to Wrigley!  It's lovely and tree-lined, and we've spent the past few weekends exploring, finding new neighborhood bars, restaurants, and parks, and enjoying our deck.  Needless to say, it is a big change from our old life on Bleecker Street, but we are loving it.

One of our greatest discoveries so far has been the Hamlin Park Pool.  Hamlin Park is a huge public park at the corner of Damen and Wellington that has a playground, four softball fields, basketball courts, lawns for sunning, and the most GORGEOUS public pool I have ever seen.  It's clean and the lounge chairs are new and comfortable, and I think I will be spending every possible moment there from now until the Nugget makes his arrival.  Floating around in the cold water is about the only relief I get these days....

Enjoy your weekend!
