Busy busy....

So we have been busy, busy lately with no time for blog posts, so I thought I would do a little summary of what we've been up to!

(Note: I'm doing this on my iPhone so I can't put the text and pictures together so the pics will all be at the end in who knows what order.)

First, we are very excited for the Chicago summer! This is what most Chicagoans live for - that 10-12 week period where the weather is glorious and every bar, restaurant, and shop moves outdoors. Our neighborhood is starting to bring out the umbrellas and sidewalk tables and people are hitting the playgrounds in full force. We are really excited to start taking John to the playground regularly.

Summer also means Cubs games! This year for the first time Peter and I are season ticket holders. We have a share with my good friend Paul from law school and some great seats (kind of behind and up from the Bartman seat for you Cub fans). We have been to two games so far and it's been great.

May also means the Indy 500 Mini Marathon is upon us. Peter and I decided to run it this year along with Amy and Kevin. We're excited. This will be my 5th half-marathon in addition to 2 marathons but my first since John was born so I'm both excited and nervous. Peter and I have been trading off on training runs and watching John so I've been doing a lot of solo long runs, including one in 25-mile an hour winds on the lakefront where the water was splashing up and soaking all the runners! Crazy, but fun.

John is changing so much every day. He is 9 months old and we were told he is in great shape by our doc at his 9-month appointment yesterday. He's 22.5 lbs and 29.5 inches, which puts him solidly in the 80-85th percentile. He's also started crawling! All of the sudden on Wednesday he just took off, and hasn't stopped since. We were a little concerned that he wasn't crawling but I've now been convinced that these little guys just wait for their own time to do things. He's also learned to pull up and stand up in his crib - trouble.

We had a great time last weekend at the birthday party for my dearest friend Jessica's twins Maggie and Michael! They held it at Bubbles Academy, a lovely kids' gym and play space here in Chicago. John was in heaven. I think this had a lot to do with his motivation to start crawling!

Finally, we are watching a lot of sports in our house because the Rangers and the Pacers are in the playoffs! John has his lucky ND socks just like his dad, so we think we're going to be big winners!

Off to Indy!

xoxo
